Exclamatory Sentences

What is an Exclamatory Sentence?

An exclamatory sentence expresses strong emotion. It ends with an exclamation mark. (! One of these things)

You might use it to show anger, confusion, love, happiness, or any other boisterous emotion.

I say boisterous because you probably wouldn't use an exclamation mark to show peace, calm or shyness.

Here are some examples:

1. No, you cannot dye the dog's hair!  (anger)

2. I don't want to go to Grandma's house!  (frustration)

3. I scored three goals at the soccer game!  (happiness)

4. I can't find the peanut butter!  (confusion)

5. I love you!  (love)

6. We're going to Hawaii!  (elation)
